this is another post in my Prepping for Preschool series.
The other day I went to Target…because it is one of my favorite places on Earth! Right when I walked in they had workbooks on the end cap of the “Dollar Spot” for a whopping buck.
They had two different Preschool books, so I threw them in my cart and continued on my merry way. When I got home I was looking at the books and was pretty impressed. They are full color, fun photos, and Greyson was drawn to them immediately.
I decided that instead of letting him scribble all over them, and then just toss them a few days later I thought they could be an excellent resource for our upcoming preschool weeks.
I grabbed the other workbook that I had purchased a few months ago from Barnes and Noble, and took the pages apart.
Once the pages were removed I simply slipped them into clear protective covers (You can get 50-100 for a few dollars at pretty much any drug store) and back into a 3-ringed binder. This way Greyson can use dry erase markers, dry erase crayons, or dry erase colored pencils to work on the pages. The number of times he can work on the pages is unlimited. It will be excellent for practicing tracing, counting, and basic math concepts.
Since they are reusable, it will also be excellent for review.
Once again, I am so happy with the insanely inexpensive workbooks. Two of my favorite “treats” that came with the books are:
1) Completion award for the student
2) Celebration stickers. I am not sure you know this but stickers are pretty much like gold in our house.
Another option that we have available to us, thanks to my mom; is the Crayola Activity Center.
This is a fun little dry erase portable work center. You can slide in ANY sheet that you would like. There is a protective screen over the top for your child to write and erase all over. Greyson likes to try and change out the sheets by himself, but he is still not that good at it. He tends to wad the sheet before getting it in there. BUT, it works great when I am sitting right next to him working with him.
Leave me a comment, I would love to hear your money saving tricks when it comes to your kiddos!!
