Sorry I have been gone for so long. I feel like I am failing big time. Again, please accept my apologies!
We have been very busy at the Butler casa, lately. Many projects, and updates taking place.
We’ve been working on:
Landscaping
Dining room makeover
Dining room furniture refinishing
Getting quotes from some contractors for a living room overhaul
Trying to keep up with everything, which I am not!
So here are some sneak peak at the major project that has been happening around here.
Here is the dining room last week:
and yes those are Greyson’s fingerprints, on the mirror and random unnecessary junk on the top of the dresser/dining room storage hutch.
and here is what it looks like right now:
Yep!
See, I have been working really hard on refinishing our dining room furniture. And here is why:
- It was ugly
- The chairs did not match the table, which did not match the dresser/hutch
- We can not afford to buy a new set
- I was bored.
So I finished the chairs, and the dresser/hutch, and was ready to move it back in and get it set all back up nice and neat. But then I remembered how I had orange walls in my dining room, but not just painted orange.
No.
They were orange walls painted over wallpaper, which was peeling and bubbling off of my walls.
So I said to myself “Lindsay, remove the wallpaper before bring your newly stained hutch/dresser back into the house”, “Lindsay, do it today, it wont take you long. I bet you could get it all done and still have dinner ready for when Scott gets home”
no such luck.
I peeled off the orange, only to find FOUR more layers of wallpaper, only to find nasty old, dark, dingy, and boring wood paneling.
sigh.
Then I said to myself “Lindsay, you cannot stop now. Now you will have to strip all the walls, fill in all of the paneling lines with joint compound (at least three times), and then prime, and then paint.” shit.
That was this past Monday. Thankfully I have an amazing husband who just came home and let out a sigh, and then pretended not to notice because he knew I was beyond stressed about it, and would not want to discuss my latest adventure.
On Tuesday, Scott came home sick (VERY rare) he is a trooper, and never ever leaves work.
He stayed home on Wednesday too, this is when I knew something was wrong.
On Thursday he got up said he was better and went to work. I got a call about an hour later (9:30 am), that he was in the ER, and by 1:00 PM, he was in surgery for an emergency appendectomy.
He is home now, and doing better but not great. So the dining room has stat stagnant, for the past 5 days or so. I hope to pick up where I left off tomorrow, and make some more progress.
Oh, and to end this post on a happy note. Look at how cute my little man is, swimming in the pool!
